SALVA GROUP and CEOPPAN renew their partnership agreement to promote the "Ears of wheat" project

SALVA's plant in Lezo (Guipúzcoa) was the venue for signing the renewal of the partnership agreement between the company and CEOPPAN, in order to continue promoting the "Ears of Wheat" project (Spanish Artisan Bakery Selection). The event was led by the Director General of SALVA, David Llordés, and the Chairman of CEOPPAN, Andreu Llargués.

It was carried out as part of the Discussion Panel "Baking Tomorrow's Bakery Today", which was held at SALVA on the same morning. Attended by a large number of people, representatives of Associations and Guilds affiliated to CEOPPAN and the media, the event was chaired by the Director General, David Llordés, and the Secretary General of CEOPPAN, José María Fernández del Vallado.

Following the visit to one of the main work plants in SALVA, up to five panellists spoke about their experience as bakery entrepreneurs, as well as giving their opinions on the current situation in the sector. The following panellists spoke, in this order: Jorge Sanz (Chairman of Teruel Bakers' Association); Juan José Rausell (Chairman of Valencia Guild of Bakers and Cake Makers); Eneko Elguezábal (Gure Ogía Bakery); Francisco Javier García Moreno (Chairman of Murcia Bakers' Association); and Miguel Ángel Usubiaga (Chairman of Bizkaia Bakers' Association and of the Basque Bakers' Federation).

Later Joan Riera, from Kantar Worldpanel, gave an interesting talk on trends in bread consumption in Spain, and concluded that "bread is an essential food at the Spanish table, but we need to connect and create the habit of bread consumption among younger members of society”.

Before signing the renewal of the Agreement between SALVA and CEOPPAN, Fernández del Vallado announced that the European Union has granted INCERHPAN a €700,000 subsidy to support a campaign promoting bread consumption in Spain throughout 2019, 2020 and 2021, for an amount totalling €1,000,000.

The campaign will be aimed at children aged 6 to 12, recommending healthy dietary habits based on bread, through messages endorsed by the Spanish Food Safety Agency.
